Full of new energy, or shall we say experiences, we started the outreach here in Flanders. During the first week, we went to a secondary school and did a program for the whole school - 70 girls! It was great. First of all we had some time in their prayer group. We taught them about Jesus as their bride who is waiting full of excitement for them. What a patience he has! Edith used all her drama skills to illustrate. Wonderful and touching!
The next hour, Leen testified on how she got to know God better as a personal God, not as someone far away. The girls were all quiet and listening. At the end we sang a few worship songs and after a song (and every time we finished), they wanted more! We had some nice talks and some of them even wanted to join us back in Mechelen.
On Friday, we joined the V-day, a retreat day in the City of Gent for secondary schools. We did some sketches, testimonies; we shared about their dreams and nightmares, and also about Jesus as our Lord. During the quiet moment some people were touched. God was really present! And again the same thing happened; some didn’t want to leave and even wanted to stay for the prayer evening! Great, isn’t it?
This week, there was more excitement waiting for us. Street evangelisation! In the beginning we had to fight against tiredness and get our courage together. After intercession and other prayers, we went out enthusiastically on to the streets to invite some people for an open evening and meal in our house. Our neighbours also got invited. It was a nice experience to get to know some people living around us and at least, get to see them. So now we’re preparing for the dinner, full of excitement, awaiting the people who will come…!
We can see that God is working through our group, touching people through worship and some teaching skills, but mainly through the love of God and the fellowship with one another that are shining out.
